Dear colleagues and friends of lingual orthodontics,
It gives me great pleasure to send you three of our latest articles on dentoalveolar compensation with the WIN appliance.
In particular, the comparison of the two Class II articles by Yanssens et al. has a funny flavour, as they compare WIN treatment results with those of aligner treatments. Guess the outcome!
The third article by Thiem et al. could be the beginning of a paradigm shift in the ortho-paro world, as it emphasises the enormous capacity of the periodontium to follow tooth movements by remodelling also in a perpendicular direction. Precise torque control is the key to this aspect and makes a big difference.
All three papers have been published in prestigious journals with a high impact factor. For the EJO article, Yann Janssens received the Lingual Award of the European Orthodontic Society in 2024. Congratulations Yann!
All the best from Bad Essen and I hope you take some time and enjoy reading the papers,
Dirk Wiechmann
